Dress: H&M (old) // Shoes: Valentino // Necklaces: Nordstrom & Bauble Bar // Watch: Michael Kors // Bag: Coach
I've been on a big jewelry kick lately. Much like a magpie, there hasn't been a shiny object that I haven't fallen in love with. I picked up this glorious necklace and I can't stop wearing it with everything!
I love dresses that can be dressed up or dressed down, much like this H&M piece. I can wear it with heels if I'm wanting a more formal look or pair it with flats and a denim vest for a casual summer ensemble.
Happy Friday, y'all!

Top: American Apparel (The letters were a DIY) // Skirt: Zara (last seen here and here) // Shoes: BCBG // Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim
Funny story... We got to the spot for pictures and I realized that I had forgotten the SD card in the camera. Gah! It was just one of those days. (Ruh-roh.) We went ahead and took these pics with a cell phone so please excuse the graininess.
Ever since I saw blogger extraordinaire Peony Lim in this outfit, I was completely smitten with the "Holy Chic" shirt. Well, not only was it sold out everywhere but it was also $220. Yikes! While I can be slightly irrational about shopping at times, there are too many shoes out there that need a good home with me for me to justify spending hundreds of dollars on a tee shirt. So I decided to make my own using iron-on letters and a comfy cotton tee! Take that, Martha Stewart.

Top: J. Crew (old but available in these colors) // Shorts: Gap // Necklace: Anthropologie // Shoes: Zara // Bag: Coach
I almost decided against taking pictures of Monday's outfit because my hair was having one of its most petulant days ever. But I realized that it doesn't get more real than bad hair, so I guess this is my way of baring my soul y'all. ;)
The closet is still in quite a state of disarray (unacceptable, I know!), so I've taken to wearing the comfiest outfits I can muster. This silk blouse is a J. Crew staple and the Gap shorts are jersey and feel just like PJ's. Sign me up!

Top: ASOS (old but I also love this one) // Jeans: Rag & Bone // Shoes: Alice & Olivia // Clutch: Banana Republic // Necklaces: J. Crew & Nordstrom // Sunglasses: Prada
I know what you're thinking--why Bernikins, that's the same clutch as the last outfit! And you would be correct. You see, we recently moved to our new place and so my mornings have been a mad dash of digging through boxes and suitcases and by the time I've looked through six boxes to find a suitable outfit, I'm pretty tuckered out and don't have the energy to look for an appropriate purse. Which is how I ended up using the same clutch the entire week. Just being honest here.
If you love the shoes, it's on super sale here! The front section has a thick cushion so they are surprisingly comfy.
I will be spending most of this weekend finishing with the unpacking and getting last pieces of furniture. Wish me luck! :)

- Those who know me know that I simply adore Grace Coddington. In this video, Grace shares her recipe for Steak and Potatoes Dauphinois--equal parts entertaining and yummy!
- It's official: H&M will launch its online store this August. For those who don't have a storefront near you, are you excited?
- As a professional woman in my 20s, I hear a lot about the urgency of my biological clock. This article on The Atlantic particularly struck a chord with me.
- Do you rely on your foundation for sun protection? I do. This may make you rethink that...

Top: Gap (old) // Jacket: Club Monaco // Skort: Zara // Clutch: Banana Republic // Shoes: Valentino
I wore a fair amount of skorts when I was little one. Confession time: I once rocked a pair while going crazy on the monkey bars and totally ripped a huge hole in the crotch. Did they stop me? Absolutely not. You could say that I was born determined.
I'm still trying to figure out the best way to work the short length and hard edges to fit my short frame so stay tuned for more outfits with this Zara skort!

When dressing for warm weather, I find it most important to think about what will move with ease and be the most comfortable. I can already tell that I will be living in floral maxi dresses this season. This version offers so much versatility, from a summer wedding to a casual Saturday running errands. My obsession with bright and punchy colors lives on as I'm seriously considering this fun shift dress--paired with a dark blazer, it'll transition beautifully into fall. Finally, I'm going to be taking a cue from style maven Taylor Tomasi Hill and pairing baseball tees with decadent skirts like this one from J. Crew.

Dress: Forever 21 (old) // Blazer: Zara // Clutch: Charles & Keith // Shoes: Zara // Necklaces: Nordstrom, J. Crew // Bracelets: Forever 21, Bauble Bar, BCBGeneration
I got this dress some time last year and have never found quite the right occasion for it. While I love that it's incredibly lightweight, it borders on overly sheer, and every time I consider wearing it, I'm convinced it looks too much like a nightie. Pairing it with a blazer makes it a little more appropriate for the office and also seems more weather appropriate considering we are still experiencing June Gloom!
On a side note, I'm trying to embrace my new bangs (they always seem like a good idea when you are in the stylist's chair) but I'm not quite there yet. The first few days post-haircut is always an internal debate between "I love this!" and "Not sure chopping all that hair off was a great idea." :/

- Have you seen this 360° tour of Jenna Lyons' office? It is truly remarkable and I would not expect anything less from such a style maven and business-savvy woman.
- Marchesa has always been known for their attention to detail when it comes to couture, so it should come as no surprise that the dynamic duo is now breaking into the beauty world. The first collection, featuring nail designs, is set to his stores this October.
- Another day, another H&M collaboration. This time they've tapped French designer Isabel Marant, known for her urban twist on style staples. The collection is set to hit shelves in November 2013.
- Seeing as SJP/Carrie Bradshaw single-handedly sparked my love affair with Manolo Blahniks, I'm truly ecstatic that she's launching her very own shoe collection. The collection sounds quite robust, ranging from bags to sandals to stilettos with price points between $200-700.

Dress: Zara (old) // Blazer: Club Monaco (similar here) // Necklace: Francesca's // // Shoes: Sam Edelman // Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim (love the mini version here) // Bracelets: Forever 21, Bauble Bar
Remember this Zara dress from way back then? It's one of my favorite Zara finds ever--it's the perfect slip-on dress for just about any occasion.
I've had my eye on this Club Monaco jacket for ages but it was always out of my price range. Alas, persistence pays off as it finally went on super sale! I love how the floral print adds femininity to an otherwise masculine silhouette. This will probably be one of the last weeks that I get to wear it before it gets entirely too warm so I'm embracing it while I can.
Happy Monday y'all!

Top: Old Navy // Skirt: J. Crew // Heels: Valentino // Purse: Coach // Necklace: J. Crew // Bracelets: BCBGeneration, Forever21 // Sunglasses: Prada
The only thing longer than my hair is how long it's been since I've had an outfit post... Eeek! Better late than never?
We're experiencing June Gloom here in Orange County, but that sure hasn't stopped me from breaking out skirts and dresses. The Old Navy tee is also an oldie but a goodie as it is still one of the comfiest and softest shirts I own. I've been hunting around for replacements but haven't had luck so far so suggestions are welcome! I was also once told that if I had any more nautical-themed clothing items that people might think I live in a boat, but that hasn't stopped me one bit. In fact, I've been pondering this lovely sweatshirt... Thoughts?
Happy Friday y'all!

I've been particularly inspired by brights and prints, especially for summer. Think neon hues of pinks, blues and even yellow! Perhaps it's the Southern California influence on me. I absolutely love the idea of printed shorts--they would be perfect for summer barbecues and pool parties. While I am totally in love with oversized bags (especially the Phillip Lim Pashli), pint-sized clutches and purses are a perfect alternative for a more minimalist look. This Kate Spade clutch/cross-body bag manages to be fun and sophisticated, all at the same time. When it comes to accessorizing, I'm taking cues from Blaire of Atlantic-Pacific, who is the queen when it comes to layering jewelry. Think plenty of light, staple pieces thrown in with a few bolder, statement accessories.
Do tell, what's your summer style inspiration?
