Penciling Dots

satin button-up: Gap
polka dot pencil skirt: Banana Republic
coral pumps: Zara
blue tote: 3.1 Phillip Lim
necklace: Nordstrom
watch: Michael Kors
sunglasses: Karen Walker

When Banana Republic has one of those awesome 50% off sales, I'm like a bee to honey. I had my eye on this tailored eye candy of a pencil skirt since it first hit stores but I was quite resolved to wait till it went on sale.

It's slightly Mad Men-reminiscent, but hey, there's nothing wrong with injecting retro style into a modern wardrobe. ;)

It Will All Work Out

Without getting entirely too sappy, the past week has really kicked my butt. As a result, outfits posts have gotten less than regular and I apologize for that. I started this blog as a means to express my love for fashion and lately it's meant so much more.

Throughout this trying time I've learned some valuable lessons:
1. There are friends that will stay true to you through thick and thin.
2.The perfect pair of stilettos always manage to put a smile on my face.
3. Sometimes we need to just need to remember to Breathe and Reboot.

2012 has proven to be quite a challenging year so far and I certainly don't doubt that there will be more hard times to come. As well as happy times. And fun times. C'est la vie.

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.” -- F. Scott Fitzgerald

Sheer Florals

floral top: Zara (available here)
jeans: Seven for all Mankind (from Sak's Outlet)
coral pumps: Zara (available here)
sunglasses: Karen Walker (on sale at Gilt here)
nude clutch: Banana Republic

I wouldn't quite describe my  look as super girly, but there's honestly rarely a floral print that I don't love. When I saw this sheer floral blouse at Zara, I was instantly sold. Not to mention it looks incredibly reminiscent of this look from Joseph Altuzurra's Spring 2012 collection.

I should probably also mention that if you've noticed my hair looking darker, you're not crazy. I dyed it back to a darker brown, closer to what my original color is. I initially thought it was looking incredibly too Aeon Flux-black but I think I'm starting to come around to it. Thoughts?

Mono Mint

silk top: Banana Republic
mint green pleated skirt: Zara (available here)
gold wedges: Zara
bracelet: Express
black shoulder bag: Charles & Keith

I was actually at Zara on the hunt for colored denim--red or green please!--but this pleated skirt was just too cute to resist.

And yes, I have an addiction to Zara heels. Le sigh. I had my eye on these gold wedges for quite a while but managed to hold out...for a few weeks. They just reminded me too much of these gold YSL wedges for me to resist.

The Tomasi Train

polka-dot blouse: Zara
gray trousers: Banana Republic
wide belt: The Limited
silver stilettos: Zara (on sale!)
clutch: Charles & Keith

Yep, I've jumped on the Taylor Tomasi-Hill train. The flame-haired beauty has such adventurous style, it's positively infectious!

I particularly love this outfit of Taylor's: A twist to classic pieces like the polka-dot top and high-waisted trousers.

Granted, my legs don't look ten million miles long like hers. But hey, you can't fault a gal for trying right?

Topsy Turvy

cardigan: J. Crew
floral skirt: Zara
turquoise necklace: Francesca's
watch: Michael Kors
sunglasses: Karen Walker
black clutch: Charles & Keith
glitter pumps: Proenza Schouler

I have a mad crush on this gal. I may not have a myriad of fab Oscar gowns to choose from, but I can still take a style cue from the fab Erika Bearman a la a backwards cardigan.

Really, I find any excuse to break out the necklace. It was a real score from the always-lovely Francesca's at only $28!

Happy Tuesday, y'all.

Stripes and Bows

nautical top: Zara
purple bow skirt: Forever 21
watch: Michael Kors
sunglasses: Karen Walker
nude sandals: Steve Madden
blue tote: 3.1 Phillip Lim

I know, I know. There really isn't a sailor motif that I don't love.

The best part: I was wearing a red and white striped top complete with a giant anchor when I was buying this top. I think I was majorly judged.

I hope y'all had a lovely weekend! One of my bestest friends was in town and I had a sinful amount of fun. ;)

Love you, sweet friend.

Yay Cali Weather!

dress: boutique
pink chain-link necklace: J. Crew
cream clutch: Charles & Keith
animal print heels: BCBG

It was unseasonably warm this weekend so I took full opportunity of the weather moment and wore a dress that is probably best meant for summer.

I'm getting way too anxious for pool-time weather.

Color Story

striped sweater: Old Navy
pink banded skirt: J. Crew
gold belt: J. Crew
black leather bag: Coach
gray sandals: Charles & Keith

It was actually warm enough this weekend to lay by the pool! Just another reason to love California.

Alas, the weather got cold again so I was forced to wear a sweater today. Oh well. At least bare legs are acceptable now...right? ;)

Minty Fresh

sweater: Zara (from wayyy back)
mint green skirt: Zara
nude sandals: Steve Madden
coral necklace: Francesca's
clutch: Charles & Keith

I've been wanting a mint green piece for a while but many of the pieces I've tried on have made me look like a combination between a twelve year old and the Easter bunny. Not a cute look.

Thank God for Zara, right? ;)

And TGIF.

Just a Southern Girl

floral tank: Express
chambray top: Old Navy
black skirt: J. Crew
purple sandals: Zara
watch: Michael Kors
black shoulder bag: Charles & Keith

I think my Arkansassy roots really show through in this outfit.

Aaron thought I was headed to a barn dance.
