Pumped Up Kicks

dress: Francesca's
silver stilettos: Zara
clutch: Forever 21
bracelet: Forever 21
sunglasses: Burberry

I love classic stilettos. Granted, I love all shoes, but pointy-toed stilettos have a very special place in my shoe-shaped heart.

I found these silver pumps on sale at Zara for less than $30! (I know, right?!) I was worried they looked like spaceships and would make me appear that I was about to take flight into space at any given moment, but the most fabulous gay man talked me into them.

Color-Blocking a la SJP

red sweater: Express
pink skirt: J. Crew
black glitter belt: J. Crew
blue tote: 3. 1 Phillip Lim
animal-print heels: BCBG
sunglasses: Burberry
iPhone case: Kate Spade

I've been dying to try color-blocking. When I first bought this J. Crew skirt, I was excited to pair it with other joyful colors. So I finally got around to it last week in the spirit of a special work occasion.

My inspiration: Sarah Jessica Parker in Prabal Gurung.

Happy Monday, y'all! I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Red, White, and Blue (Oh, and Animal Print)

 top: Ambiance in SF
skirt: Anthropologie
clutch: Express
shoes: Charles & Keith

I love Anthropologie. Like a lot. But sometimes paying a million dollars for a floral blouse seems a little steep, ya know?

Good thing I scored this wool swing skirt at over 50% off! You know me and my bare legs.

Happy Friday, y'all! :)

Alice Dellal for Chanel

I'm loving the idea of Chanel's classic and uber feminine aesthetic with Alice Dellal's famous rocker-chic style. Not to mention, I am in love with the Chanel "Boy." It's on the top of my bag wishlist!

Check out this adorable interview with Alice on her new role at Chanel:

Pump it Up

striped sweater: Old Navy
pink necklace: J. Crew
pink clutch: J. Crew (Xmas gift from the gay hubby!)
black jeans: Gap
glitter pumps: Proenza Schouler

When it comes to color, sometimes you have to go big or go home. Mixing chartreuse and neon pink is an unexpected favorite of mine.

And how gorgeous are those Proenza pumps?! I snagged them at the Sak's consolidation sale for a real bargain price and I could not be happier with them. There's nothing like a glittering pair of shoes to brighten up the day. Seriously. I highly recommend it.

P.S: How exciting is it that I finally dressed weather-appropriate? ;)

Happy Hump Day!

I Live on the Edge.

I've never considered myself as much of a dare-devil, but according to the New York Times, I'm living on the edge.

So according to the article, "A Scientific Look at the Dangers of High Heels," women who are habitual heel-wearers are causing long-term damage to their feet and leg muscles. In fact, women that wear heels regularly are generally less efficient walkers even when we don't have heels on!

“In a person who wears heels most of her working week,” Dr. Cronin says, the foot and leg positioning in heels “becomes the new default position for the joints and the structures within. Any change to this default setting,” he says, like pulling on Keds or Crocs, constitutes “a novel environment, which could increase injury risk.”

Could y'all really imagine me in Crocs? ;)

It was certainly an interesting read. See the full article here.

Close-Up: Chanel Couture Spring 2012

If the Devil really is in the details, let's just call Kaiser Karl El Diablo from now on.

From the ombre paillettes to the baby blue tweed, this collection is best-viewed up-close and personal.

Going for Gold

chambray top: Old Navy
sequined skirt: Banana Republic
necklace: Bauble Bar
clutch: Charles & Keith
shoes: Charles & Keith

I've been on a mad hunt for the perfect chambray shirt. While (as y'all may have noticed) I am a J.Crew fanatic, their chambray shirts didn't quite work on me. I tried on the boyfriend fit and it looked like I was swimming in fabric. Not cute.

So I ventured to the Old Navy near my gym and lo and behold, there was a chambray shirt sitting at the front of the store! If that's not kismet, I don't know what is.

Say Roar!

dress: H&M
blazer: Zara
necklace: Nordstrom
animal print heels: BCBG
clutch: Charles & Keith

We've finally been getting some rain here in the Bay Area, which is lovely and all, but it meant that I had to wait for a dry day to bring these new shoes out to play.

I scored them for over 50% off at the Sak's Consolidation Sale! Winner.

Happy Monday, y'all! It's going to be a long week in le office but I'm hoping that a new tech purchase will brighten up the week. Stay tuned... :)

Eye See Lanvin

Lanvin to release an eyewear collection?! It's like Alber Elbaz realized that I have been on the hunt for new frames.

The tortoiseshell glasses? MINE.

Peter Pan

sequined top: boutique
pink skirt: J. Crew
glitter belt: J. Crew
black bag: Charles & Keith
leopard-print heels: Charles & Keith
gold bracelet: Forever 21

Sequins and pink? Yes, I'm a huge girly-girl. Judge away.

And in case you're wondering, yes, it is still winter in San Francisco. I'm just the crazy lady that refuses to put pants on.

Happy Friday, y'all!

Brr...It's Cold in Here

red coat: Old Navy
black and white blouse: Zara
gray trousers: Banana Republic
animal print belt: Banana Republic
tote: 3.1 Phillip Lim
peep-toe pumps: Nine West

It finally got cold here in the Bay area. I was pretty bummed out to have to break out the winter wear. But luckily, this red coat was ready in my closet to cheer me up from the winter blues. (Side note: Old Navy has some really cute stuff lately. Trust me.)

Notice the two randos in the background in the first picture? They were very puzzled at why Aaron was laying in the grass. I can't say I blame them.

Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012

For the Alexander McQueen's pre-fall collection, Sarah Burton drew inspiration from the Victorian era. It certainly showed in the details, from the luxe damask prints to the leather corseted belts and hardcore lace-up boots. I especially loved Burton's interpretation of cocktail and evening wear—the edgy details beautifully offset the girly silhouettes. I'm hoping to see that last floral printed gown on the red carpet sometime soon. (Isn't it totally gorgeous a la Zoe Saldana in Armani Prive at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival?)

Here were my five fav looks:

And Who Says Fashion Isn't Fun?

Silly nillys, that's who.

For further proof of Chanel's fabulous fashions, check out the behind-the-scenes clip of the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 campaign.

Black & Gold

blazer: Zara
black V-neck: Gap
sequined skirt: Banana Republic
glitter belt: J. Crew
nude heels: Steve Madden
black purse: Charles & Keith
bracelet: Forever 21

Remember this skirt? I've been meaning to try out the black/gold combo so the skirt seemed like a golden opportunity—pun intended.

Also, it may look California-warm in those pics but do not be fooled. It's been quite chilly here in the Bay Area. Why did I refuse to wear a coat, you might ask? I wish I knew.

Happy hump day, y'all!

Remember when I made my top fashion picks for this award season? Well, I may have been only slightly off but I predicted/hoped that this fab dress would make it to the SAG red carpet. Apparently Rachel heard my pleas and decided to wear it an award show early. Pish posh apple sauce.

Rachel Zoe in Rachel Zoe. I die.

Also making (style) dreams come true over the weekend was Charlie's Angels star, Minka Kelly.

I'd expected this Oscar de la Renta dress to make it to the Golden Globes, but Minka beat me to the punch by wearing it to the Elysium Heaven Gala. She wore it sans embellished belt but she made up for it with that impossibly gorgeous wavy hair.

An Update: Fashion Week Scheduling

image via Zimbio

The Fashion Week councils have decided to stop the girl fight and play nice after all.

New York and London have both agreed to move up their dates for the September 2012 shows, with New York Fashion Week taking place from Sept. 6 through 13th, and London Fashion Week following from Sept. 14 through Sept. 18.

The fashion world was in a tizzy when the Milan council shifted their dates, essentially forcing editors to have to decide their allegiance to specific cities and designers.

CFDA's CEO said, “We’ve been back and forth on this. People are anxious and need to know the dates. There’s no value for the cities to compete. In the spirit of working together, London and New York are in agreement that we will go in the earlier period, but with the hope that the four cities will come out of this confusion and work together to plan future show weeks. We need to begin to look at the fashion season not as individual fashion weeks, but very much as a global business.”

The four fashion capitals have yet to come to a consensus on dates for the 2013 and 2014 seasons so...let the cat fight continue!
