Combining my two loves: Prabal Gurung and Target. What could be better?

On a side note, how yummy is his accent?!

Life Lately

I finally got that much-needed cut and color. I went way darker than I expected but I'm going to embrace it for fall.

Aaron came to visit for my birthday! We just had to hit up Laguna Beach for some fun in the sun.

A true SoCal day isn't complete without some Pink Berry.

Mango Martini at Ra Sushi, one of the best happy hour spots in town.

My two favorite boys at Knotts Scary Farm. It was quite spooky!

Obsessed with all the fixtures at the gorgeous AllSaints store in Palm Springs.

A special shoutout to my sweet Momma for my new Prada birthday kicks!

Shopping is exhausting, y'all. ;)

These Rag & Bone had me instantly captivated. Such a fun pop of color.

Birthday Recap

Beaded dress: Club Monaco (available here)
Black heels: Steve Madden
Clutch: Charles and Keith
Sunglasses: Karen Walker

This year's birthday was just wonderful , complete with an oh-so-cute puppy surprise courtesy of the man friend. I was on the hunt for the perfect dress to wear to dinner and decided to treat myself with the gorgeous Rebecca dress from Club Monaco. It'll transition wonderfully for office parties this holiday season!

We had a lovely dinner close to the beach and the restaurant treated us to sinfully delicious Irish Coffee dessert. Of course, the weekend was topped off with snuggles and kisses from sweet Sophie. They call it puppy love. And just to cheer up a dreary Monday, the man friend also sent the sweetest bouquet of flowers to my office.

Lots of love y'all.

A Birthday Surprise

So my birthday is just around the corner (I turn twenty-faux) and the man friend surprised me with one of the best birthday presents OF ALL TIME.

So a little back story, I love little dogs. I'm pretty obsessed with my Shih Tzu and Min Pin, little gems who live with my mom. The man friend, on the other hand, has always expressed his dislike of "yappy little dogs"--his words not mine.

Imagine my sheer surprise when he announced to me one evening that I was getting a sweet puppy for my birthday!

Everyone, meet Sophie. She's a cuddle monster and the sweetest pup we could have ever hoped for. Just a week with us and she's already mostly potty trained!

Jason Wu Spring 2013

Oscar de la Renta heir apparent, Jason Wu, took a decidedly sexier approach to his Spring 2013 line and I loved it. The fashion boy wonder, who is usually known for his ladies-at-lunch aesthetic, has been moving towards a markedly younger and racier look for his past few collections and his spring lineup was no exception. Think lots of sheer inserts and sexy cutouts, all balanced with feminine ruffles and adorable floral prints.

I particularly loved his showing of evening gowns and I can't wait to see Hollywood's leading ladies baring some serious skin on the red carpet in these wonderful Wu creations.

P.S: Notice that I couldn't even narrow it down to a mere five favorite looks for the composite. Yes, I loved it that much.

Prabal Gurung Spring 2013

Anyone one that knows me knows that I am obsessed with Prabal Gurung.

For Spring 2013, Gurung showcased a collection that was both fiery and soft. Dresses featured both feminine details such as feathers and ruffles but highlighted with a sexier edge when done in the collection's signature fiery red hue.

As always, the lineup showed off Gurung's superb attention to detail and master tailoring, complete with sheer panels and his signature belted dresses. But Gurung also introduced a transition in his aesthetic with dresses that were markedly fuller and fabulously embellished.

Not to disappoint his cadre of loyal fans, the collection was also chock full of Gurung's signature eye-catching prints.

Like his last few collections, his shoes made a large impact on the runway, marking Gurung's position in the industry as a formidable accessories designer as well.

Honor Spring 2013

There's simply no other way to say it--Honor's Spring 2013 collection was just plain pretty.

From the pale greens to the light blush, the color palette of this oh-so-airy lineup was subtle and fresh in the girliest of ways. Even trousers were given the feminine touch with floral prints and silky fabrics.

The silhouettes presented were particularly lovely, featuring full and flouncy skirts paired with intricately embroidered bodices.

For any gal looking to don the most charming of dresses, this collection is for you.

BCBG Spring 2013

If you're looking to inject some sex appeal to your attire, then the BCBG Spring 2013 collection is right up your alley. This collection was chock full of leather and lace, all complemented with bold harness detailing.

"I don't think you need to show a lot of skin to be sexy," said Lubov Azria. This sentiment was reflected in the carefully crafted collection, which delicately toed the line between overtly sexy and modesty with its sheer paneling and extended hemlines. The interplay between feminine touches like lace detailing worked perfectly with the masculine elements of leather in the collection.

While Spring collections normally introduce bright hues and pops of color, this collection was comparatively muted, boasting a palette of soft grays, classic whites and understated coral.

I personally loved this collection and can't wait to get my hands on a few pieces when it hits stores. What do you think of BCBG's Spring 2013 collection?

A Life Update

Hey y'all.

Sorry it's been so incredibly long since my last update. Time has flown by and it's been absolutely insane up in my neck of the woods.

So naturally, an update is long overdue.

First things first: I officially moved! While I had a fabulous year living in the Bay Area with one of my best friends in the entire world, I am very excited to have made the move down to Southern California. The sunny weather, gorgeous beaches and abundance of boba was simply too much to resist.

Also, I started a new job! I now work for a company with multiple e-commerce properties, where I run editorial strategy and social media efforts. It's an exciting and challenging transition from my old job, but I am incredibly happy. While I no longer officially work in fashion anymore, I do feel that I have been learning a lot and really strengthening my social media and web marketing skills.

On that note, the start of Fashion Week has made this entire transition very bittersweet. Yes, I absolutely adore my new job, but my heart is saddened that I am no longer a part of the fashion discourse on a daily basis. I love everything about the fashion industry and all that it represents and my hope is to return to it someday when the timing is right. But what I've learned in the past few months is that things do work out for a reason and I'm going to sit tight, be patient and have faith that it will all work out. ;)

Happy NYFW everyone. I leave you with these inspiring words from a woman much wiser than me.

On A Personal Note:

“In a child's eyes, a mother is a goddess. She can be glorious or terrible, benevolent or filled with wrath, but she commands love either way. I am convinced that this is the greatest power in the universe.” - N. K. Jemisin

This woman taught me life's most important lessons: sheer determination in the face of adversity, generosity in love and the rewards of hard work.

Happy Birthday Momma. I love you.

Lust List

Seeing as it is Thirsty Thursday, I figured it was only appropriate to quench my sartorial thirst with this delicious pair of Carven pumps. I wish. I've been on the hunt for some ladylike pumps lately and the iconic Carven bow at the back is just the perfect touch. Not to mention they are the just the perfect pair of rich burgundy for the fall.

You listening, Santa?

Casual Friday

nautical top: Forever 21
sherbert shorts: J. Crew
coral necklace: J. Crew
clutch: Charles & Keith
wedges: boutique in Madrid, Spain
gold bracelet: Express

Hey y'all! Sorry for the extended hiatus. The recent 4th of July festivities has left me in quite a food coma.

Summer weather has been pushing me to wear lots of shorts recently, so I was more than happy to unearth this pair of sherbert colored J. Crew shorts that I bought in my college days. I had them in just about every shade since they make the perfect summer wardrobe staple.

What are you favorite pieces for hot weather wear?

Bauble Babe

Metallic top: H&M
Polka dot skirt: Banana Republic
Animal print heels: BCBG
Leather tote: 3.1 Phillip Lim
Turquoise necklace: J. Crew Factory

I scored this lovely necklace from J. Crew Factory while in Napa with my bestie a few weeks ago. She was in the Bay area to celebrate her birthday so naturally wine and shopping was in order.

As the toasty weather is in full gear, I'm having fun picking up some new summer-friendly pieces to incorporate with the more structured and heavier items from fall and winter. This bright necklace seems to be doing the trick! ;)

Lust List

Nothing screams summer like colorful and festive footwear. These bright color-blocked sandals by Christian Louboutin are officially on my lust list! I'm not normally one for a stacked heel but the fuschia pink has me completely sold.

Man Repeller

Nautical maxi dress: Gap
Bow clutch: J. Crew
Brown heels: Nine West
Watch: Michael Kors

The boyfriend told me that this dress looked like an "old lady" so I call this the Man Repeller outfit.

It's normally impossible for me to find a maxi dress that actually fits lengthwise (I'm only five feet tall) so imagine my delight when I finally found one at trusty 'ol Gap--and in nautical stripes no less!

What do y'all think of the maxi dress trend?

Memorial Day Stripes

striped dress: J. Crew
pink belt: J. Crew
gold wedges: Zara

As y'all have probably noticed by now, I really cannot resist nautical stripes. Especially nautical stripes from J. Crew.

Happy Memorial Day, y'all! I hope this long weekend has been filled with sunshine and cocktails for all of you. :)
